Sign in to download Office

1. Go to tokmagnet.com and if you're not already signed in, select Sign in.

   2. Select Install (or depending on your version, Install Office>).

   2. Select Office apps to begin the installation.

   The bit version is installed by default unless Office detects you already have a bit version of Office (or a stand-alone Office app such as Project or Visio) installed. In this case, the bit version of Office will be installed instead.

   To change from a bit version to a bit version or vice versa, you need to uninstallOffice first (including any stand-alone Office apps you have such as Project of Visio). Once the uninstall is complete, sign in again to tokmagnet.com and select Other install options, choose the language and version you want (64 or bit), and then select Install. (See Install Visio or Install Project if you need to reinstall those stand-alone apps.)

4. This completes the download of Office to your device. To complete the installation, follow the prompts in the "Install Office" section below.

1. Depending on your browser, select Run (in Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer), Setup (in Chrome), or Save File (in Firefox).

   If you see the User Account Control prompt that says, Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? select Yes.

   The install begins.

   

2. Your install is finished when you see the phrase, "You're all set! Office is installed now" and an animation plays to show you where to find Office  applications on your computer. Select Close.

1. To open an Office app, select the Start button (lower-left corner of your screen) and type the name of an Office app, like Word.

   If you have Windows or , type the name of an Office app on the Start screen. Can't find your Office apps?

2. To open the Office app, select its icon in the search results.

3. When the Office app opens, accept the license agreement. Office is activated and ready to use.

   Note: The Activation Wizard appears if Office has trouble activating. Complete the steps in the wizard to finish activating Office.

Install Office

1. Once the download has completed, open Finder, go to Downloads, and double-click Microsoft Office tokmagnet.com file (the name might vary slightly).

   

   Tip: If you see an error that says the Microsoft Office tokmagnet.com can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer, wait 10 seconds and move the downloaded file to your desktop. Hold Control + click the file to launch the installer.

2. On the first installation screen, select Continue to begin the installation process.

   

3. Review the software license agreement, and then click Continue.

4. Select Agree to agree to the terms of the software license agreement.

5. Choose how you want to install Office and click Continue.

6. Review the disk space requirements or change your install location, and then click Install.

   Note: If you want to only install specific Office apps and not the entire suite, click the Customize button and uncheck the programs you don't want.

7. Enter your Mac login password, if prompted, and then click Install Software. (This is the password that you use to log in to your Mac.)

   

8. The software begins to install. Click Close when the installation is finished. If Office installation fails, see What to try if you can't install or activate Office for Mac.

   

Launch an Office for Mac app and start the activation process

1. Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock to display all of your apps.

   

2. Click the Microsoft Word icon in the Launchpad.

Absolutely love this!!

I use this for spreadsheets and such for work and it works great and seamless between my iPhone app and Surface Pro. However with this new recent update, when you click on the bar to begin typing you can’t see what you are typing until you click on another cell and whatever you have typed appears in the box. I’ve tried typing in Light and Dark mode, because my phone stays on Dark mode so I thought it might’ve been a bug with Dark mode but it doesn’t work in Light mode either. My phone is an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Please help, I know it seems like a small problem but it is annoying because if you mess up typing/spelling in the cell you won’t know until you click off and you can’t fix it without retyping the whole cell and hoping you don’t misspell or mess up again or you will have to blindly retype the cell again. Please help!!

Useful (when it works), but slow and very limited

I don’t know if this app by itself is better than having the three separate Office apps installed, but it takes up considerably less space. I use this almost exclusively for Excel documents, and this app is an adequate editor for very simple things like adding new data entries and viewing attachments received via mail or shared via cloud based file services. However, this app is EXTREMELY SLOW to work with and its interface feels claustrophobic and fiddly on an iPhone 8 screen. Maybe it’s better on an iPad Pro, with the larger display and more powerful CPU to run it? I don’t even try to do anything so complicated as enter formulas or format cells when I’m using this app… like I said, the UI is not great.

A word of warning: if you rely on Dropbox to store Office documents that you frequently work with and update via this app, you will tear your hair out in frustration at the way Office turns into a complete basket case trying to deal with Dropbox storage. I don’t know whose fault that is, Microsoft or Dropbox, but it’s infuriating and will happen to you even when doing the simplest things to documents retrieved from Dropbox folders. It gets even worse if you’re using a VPN… be ready for lost work and mondo pain. At least everything works even slower over VPN connections, so you have that to look forward to.

What will happen to my Microsoft Office Applications when my Microsoft office download becomes deactivated?

Microsoft licenses Office Pro applications and Office to Stony Brook University only for active students* and active west campus employees**.

Once you are inactive, access to previously downloaded Office programs from Office will be removed by Microsoft and you will not be able to download Microsoft Office applications from the Office Portal.

You can purchase your own copy or Office subscription from the Microsoft store and migrate your files from your Stony Brook University Office  to an Office Personal account (Windows 10,7, Mac). If you're graduating, do a search for Microsoft discounts for recent graduates.

Microsoft Office ProPlus on Windows and Apple Mac

Microsoft Office ProPlus is now available for free to download and install for students and staff. This software can be installed on up to 5 personal devices.

Steps to download Office ProPlus via Office

• Sign in to your college email account via Outlook Web App (OWA)
• Click on your picture or initials on the top right corner of the screen

• From the "My Account" page you can click on Install Office

• The Office package will then download for install on Windows. Mac users can go ahead and click Install

•  Once installed, open any of the Office programs and accept the license agreement

o After you have installed Office ProPlus, you will need to sign in periodically to keep the products activated.

What is included with Office ProPlus subscription license?

• Office ProPlus for PC (Office ProPlus base applications)
• Office ProPlus for Mac (Office for Mac base applications)
• Office Mobile for iPhone/iPod Touch
